The Scarecrow Runner Podcast: Embracing the Pain of Ultramarathons

My friend, Anthony (host of The Scarecrow Runner Podcast), and I got caught up on a few of my races, since we last did a show together.

In this episode, which relaunched his show, we chatted about training, my ultramarathon mindset shift (which occurred over the years), and the pains of ultrarunning. It takes longer to recover from ultras vs 5ks.

We hope that you get something out of our conversation!

Listen below. – I’m going to include Anthony’s episode description.

Season 5 – the relaunch

Thanks for listening, and please support Anthony’s work on his YouTube channel by “liking” and subscribing.

Join me on Season 5 “the relaunch” of The Scarecrow Runner podcast.

The podcast has been on hiatus for an extended amount of time and it’s time to breathe life back into it as we lace up our shoes and head down the trails to see what kind of adventure we can find.

In Episode 1 of Season 5, I visit with my friend and fellow ultra runner, Shannon Mick. She joined by 2 years ago and you can watch that episode here:    • Shannon Mick – Be Short Run Ultra | Scarec…

It was fun to catch back up and see what Shannon has been doing since we last spoke. She has completed numerous ultras including two 100 milers: The Mohican 100 and Burning River 100. Outstanding work! I knew you had it in you from the first time we spoke.

We chat about her recent races and upcoming races, why she jumped into running ultras and why she enjoys the pain of ultra running so much and how to prepare for that aspect of running ultras.

Shannon is a great motivator and is big on mental mindset and preparation before and the recovery after running an ultramarathon.

I encourage you to listen in and follow along.
