Please note: I am no longer an affiliate athlete of Ultra Recovery, but I provide my honest opinion.
Update (06/05/23): I have no idea what happened with this product or the business. I have not heard from them for a long time and their website is no longer up.
Before they disappeared, someone on their team let me know that the massage guns went on sale and they were trying to make improvements.
They would be coming out with all new products, expanding their recovery machine line.
For now, I’m leaving up this article because I do believe that any good massage gun can be beneficial to your recovery and day-to-day life. I also briefly share about using a Runner’s Stick and foam roller.

Over the weekend (10/15/22), I made it 64 miles at Oil Creek 100 before I had to call it quits for safety reasons. I climbed over 9,000 ft on the beautiful and gnarly Gerard Hiking Trail that day.
When I realized that I was done, it was night and about 29 degrees F.
I then had to hike out of the woods a few miles.
You can read my race report, it you want.
My muscles got a day of rest before using the massage gun. They were a little beat up, and stairs were a challenge.
The Ultra Recovery RePro felt really good once I did. I used the foam ball head, which was gentle enough on beat up muscles.
Later, I’ll use a harder massage head, probably the pointed head, which gets deeper.
On average, I use it for 10-15 minutes total, all muscle groups. This is as needed.
I also own a Runner’s Stick and foam roller (links are to the exact products), but this massage gun is my go-to.
When I use these products, it is for about the same length of time as the massage gun.
The Runner’s Stick is the travel size. It has gone to races and through airport security. I have not traveled with the massage gun, yet.
This product even helps me out when I’m feeling stressed.
It’s good to take a little break from life and massage my shoulders, where I’m most tense. Some deep breathes and about 10 minutes is enough to feel a slight improvement in my mood (emotional) and shoulders (physical).
The foam roller helps me relieve tightness in my back. Check out the video below about using the foam roller to release your entire back. I can’t always get it to work, but anything helps.
I hope that this information helps you out if you’re considering buying a massage gun. If you don’t own a Runner’s Stick or Foam Roller, those are also nice.
