Hi! I have kind of a cool announcement to make, and it is due to all of your support.
Over the past year and a half, I’ve seen more growth and potential in my Finish Stronger Mindset and Mental Wellness Coaching business (and the work that I’m doing through Coach Kyle Kranz run coaching, as well), that I’ve decided to temporarily pause accepting new counseling clients in my private practice. – There’s still access to all of the free resources on that website.
Also, towards the end of this article, you can read about a few client wins and see what people are saying about working with me.
I do have availability, so if you think that working together will help you nail your goal(s), let’s chat!
Mindset and mental wellness coaching is not a counseling service.

Coaching vision
My vision for coaching is huge. My overall goal is to increase mental health awareness, the availability of free resources, and the access to services.
I have been looking for business partners to team up with and have met so many supportive people over the years.
A part of this overarching goal is to link like-minded, helping-profession businesses, like run coaches, dieticians, physical therapists, counselors, and mindset coaches, together, so we can provide referrals and hopefully help runners find the service that they need (the right fit!).
I’ve got a mini start on my website, check out my Partner Referrals page.
It would also be great if there’s a way to make all of this connecting easier, but those details are still in the works, and I’m waiting to hear from more voices.

Service changes?
I’m not making any changes to mindset and mental wellness coaching services, I want to spend more time on it, using my mental health expertise. – Yay, more time to discuss what’s actually going on within the pain cave, and not just talk about the surface level things, like mantras!
Stepping away from providing a clinical service (counseling) frees up a lot of time and energy. I won’t be required to write progress and psychotherapy notes, talk to psychiatrists, deal with insurances, no diagnosing, and similar hoops to jump through…
I still support counselors who do these things and send them referrals, and I still answer client’s questions regarding these topics. I’m not closed off.
Cutting out those things allows me to pour more into coaching. The people I coach get similar content and resources as my counseling clients. I want to continue providing the content and resources that I like and that are most helpful.
Part of the plan is to continue to support my current counseling clients (and returning ones), but for now, not to take on anyone new.
I’m going to maintain my counseling license (LPC) and certification (NBCC) because those are important to me. Everyone (you guys!) who works with me will continue to grow with me. I LOVE what I do.

Beyond the comfort zone
I’ve been pushing beyond my comfort zone, not just through running, but through my businesses.
If you haven’t stepped outside of your comfort zone in a while, I encourage you to take a small step in doing so. See what happens, see where it can take you.
Thank you
Making this business shift wasn’t taken lightly and I still have some anxiety over it, but I think that this is a really great thing. The message behind the anxiety means that I am outside of my comfort zone, which is where we grow.
I’ll be able to put more time, energy, and money into one business. I won’t be spread thin. – Practicing what I preach!
I’ve talked about digital detox with my clients and have realized myself (I don’t spend much time on social media, I don’t have time), that I’m managing two business accounts per social media platform. That is nuts.
That’s my announcement for now. Thanks for reading and for your support, I appreciate you all!

Here are some big client wins and things that people are saying about working together from the past few months

Working with me
Stuck? Not registered for any races?
You don’t need to have a race lined up to work with me. I talk with runners who are in all seasons of life.
- People who can’t run right now due to health issues or injury.
- People who need to focus on their family and self-care.
- Who want to build better habits that will support their running.
- People who want to learn ways to better manage worries and negative thoughts.
- Who want to learn how to make running and racing more enjoyable!
- Who are considering getting into trail and ultrarunning.
There are many types of goals to work on.
A common mistake that I see people making is that they say they aren’t ready to work together yet because they have to accomplish “X” first, or they have to register for an ultramarathon.
The issue is, that they have been stuck trying the same things over and over again. Even if these things have helped in the past, they may no longer work, or are less effective.
Bad habits also keep people stuck. Overtraining, low quality rest days, and improper fueling and hydration.
Let’s talk about what’s going on and see what possible solutions we can come up with to get things rolling again.
Once we get over the hump, then we can talk about future races.
If this is you, please reach out to me.
Races lined up?
Here are a few things that we may discuss.
- Physical racing strategies
- Mental racing strategies
- Moving from fixed mindset to growth
- Busting negative self-talk and beliefs
- Gratitude and happiness
- Mental toughness
- What’s going on in the pain cave?
- Trusting yourself and your body
- Mindfulness
- The mental health benefits of running and exercise
- Emotion regulation skills
- Distress tolerance skills
- Coping skills for day-to-day stress, worries, and feelings of dissatisfaction
- Several other topics. Go to the main page on my website to see a longer list.

Will you support me in my mission to help others?
One of my many goals is to increase mental health awareness, the availability of free resources, and the access to services.
If you value my free mental health content, it would mean a lot to me if you would “like,” share, or Buy Me a Coffee.
This helps people find my free content and allows me to continue providing free content.
Thanks for being a part of my mission.
Happy running,
Shannon
